Kayleigh's Birth story

Sorry, its taken me so long to post her birth story.

Due to my Puppps I was induced at 37 weeks & 4 days.

The morning of the 23rd I called the hospital to see if they had a bed ready for me.
They told me to come in at 7:30 am. Then the fun began... We installed the car seat in the car finished loading the car w/all the suitcases & headed to the hospital.
We made it to the hospital right on time....

I got all signed in and the night nurse TRIED to start my IV. I told her that she wasn't going to get a good vein in my left arm. She went ahead and tried - - she blew out my vein & started to dig in my arm for another "good vein" finally she went and got another nurse to start the IV. The other nurse actually listened to me and started my IV in my right arm. My day nurse came in @ 8am and intruded herself & started the paperwork for my delivery. She was really nice!
The DR came in around 8:30AM and checked me - I was still 4 CM & 70% effaced.
She went ahead and broke my water( that was soooo nasty - so glad that didn't happen while I was working. - this was my fear).
The nurse started my antibiotics and potocin. She asked me what my pain tolerance was and I told her " I didn't want to feel anything."
She came in every 20 to 30 min's to up my potocin. Brian went and moved the car and I tried to rest while he was out. But my contractions started to hurt and become more regular.
By 10 am, I was in full labor - my sweet nurse would come in and talk to me and I couldn't answer her or I wouldn't remember what she said. My contractions were coming every 2 mins BUT lasting 1.5mins. They were coming so hard and fast I didn't have time to recover from the last one when another one would come. Finally, my nurse came in and said I was in hard, full labor and I could ask for drugs at any point I just needed to ask.
I made it to 11:30 am and I was begging for my drugs. I was so scared b/c they made me watch a video of how the epidural was done and ALL the side effects. I didn't care at this point - - I wanted drugs! I remember crying and telling Brian that I didn't want to do it anymore.
He was there holding my hand the hole time.
Finally the DRUG Dr came in w/my drugs. It took 5 locals to get my back numb enough to get my epidural started. I was leaning against Brian while the Dr was getting everything in place.
He stood there for 30 mins W/his legs locked and arms up... He looked over at my nurse and asked her to take over. She gladly took over and he RAN to the bathroom. He started to feel sick b/c of lack of blood flow. He quickly recoverd after walking around a little bit.
It took a few contractions before it started to work. When it started to work I was a happy camper. My nurse came back in later and said that I could tell everyone that I survived hard labor.
At around 1PM the nurse checked me again and I was at 9 CM and fully effaced. We were told that Kayleigh would be entering the world around 3:30 or 4PM. Brian and I started to call our parents and letting them know.
At 1:30pm I started to feel my contractions again... I called my nurse and she gave me a burst of drugs. That didn't work :( - - I called her again about 15mins later and told her I felt pressure.
She checked me and said "don't push"! She started to get everything ready..... She called my OB and told her that I was having my baby now. My nurse came back and I did some practice pushes. My nurse told Brian to take one leg and hold it. Brian didn't want any part of seeing the delivery BUT he was given a front seat view. He was a good hubby for helping!
I pushed for about 15 mins and nurses started to enter and help w/my legs and getting the rest of the room set up.
My OB entered the room and 15 mins later Kayleigh was born.
